I begin my work with data drawn from the natural world. These naturally occurring data are not numeric, nor are they processed through computational means; instead, they offer a boundless resource for qualitative exploration. Pressed onto the picture plane, they reveal themselves as lines, shapes, forms, colors, and textures that guide my process. The results reflect what I see.
How we see — and what we see — is inherently idiosyncratic. The marks I make are my interpretation of the data, shaped by the particular logic, perception, and sensibility I bring to them. While this perspective informs what viewers may first encounter, my intention is to create space for each viewer to engage with the work on their own terms, contemplating it through their own lens.
